Secretarial Notes

Regretfully, due to an oversight in the December issue of FN, notification of the AGM and Luncheon did not appear and thus it was a sparse attendance of less than 30 came  together at Knowle. Luckily nothing contentious was on the AGM agenda, though the secretary  has already ensured that notification of the 2009 meeting has reached the current membership.

This year we are not holding our Autumn weekend meet, instead members will hold a “Celebratory Week of Cycling” at  and from Pontins camp at Pakefield, Susffolk, starting on Monday 6th October and finishing on Friday10th.

It  has been mentioned in the past that a more sociable aspect would probably encourage a greater participation - we have seen numbers drop in recent years - and non cycling partners, wives, girl and boyfriends will have a full social programme, whilst the others enjoy a few miles. To this end there will be two runs, one a short elevenses visit, returning to camp for lunch, the other a longer run returning in time for the evening meal and entertainment. At present we have secured full board accommodation at the bargain price of £105 as opposed to £149, so it is essential you book direct with the secretary ASAP. We already have 43 booked in.

The club scrapbooks, which were started by Derek Roberts  will now be maintained by Ruth and John Alcock and will as usual be available for scrutiny and to jog ageing memories at both the AGM and the Week of Cycling venues. All I ask is that  when using them one should remember they are of some age, fragile (like most members) and treat them gently.
